What inspires you to travel?

Have you ever asked yourself that question?  Have you ever asked someone else why they don’t travel.  So many people do not the recognize the power of travel and the awesome force it is.  What is it about any given place in the world that you must visit more than any other in the world.  You don’t believe what you hear or read about a country, you put that aside and go and so often the belief’s and stereotypes are proven wrong.  I will forever be amazed when a person tells you a country is dangerous and they have never once set foot in it.

What keeps so many people from traveling?  I will always ask that question, what truly keeps a person from going places within their own country, forget the rest of the world.  A long weekend here or a week there and I am not putting that down at all.  But so many do not have that cuoriosity about seeing what is out there for them.  Because that is what inspires me to travel to constantly see and find what is out there for me.  And maybe there is different, better life for me.  A place I never thought would change my life forever.  How many of you visited a place that changed your life forever?

What is the one place you want to see more than any other in this world?  I will always remember the day I exited Brandenburg Airport Berlin, Germany having no idea what this was the beginning of.  With each journey the excitement to return to Boston began to diminish and that phrase ‘ladies and gentlemen welcome to Boston’ depressed me.  Travel can be like a scale and slowly the rest of the world tips the scales and more often than not the world wins, at least it did for me.

Are you still excited when you return from a journey?  Have your feelings changed when you see the skyline of your city and that phrase ‘ladies and gentlemen welcome to___’ excite or depress you?  Are you inspired to keep going and continue to explore this world?  So many take the trip, have a checklist so they see every tourist attraction within the time they are there.  Return home and two days later they’re back at work answering emails as if they never even took the trip.

The people I meet along the way also inspire me.  So many want to share their way of life, back rounds and what their culture is about.  So often we see how lucky we are, and there are so many parts of different cultures I wish I could bring back home with me.  It is the poorer countries that truly inspire because you see people that are happy with they have.  Imagine living without an Apple store, verizon or a Best Buy, well you can’t miss what you’ve never had and that is something I have always respected in these countries.  It is all about family and friends and loving their life and finding happiness with all they do have.

We are fascinated by travel for a multitude of reasons but more than any other travel allows us more clearly to see ourselves because something deep inside inspired us to travel.

What inspires you to travel?

As always thanks for reading.
