Tel Aviv’s Boardwalk

Tel Aviv’s Boardwalk is a waterfront playground that sits on the Mediterranean Sea.  If you want to walk, run, rollerblade or surf or enjoy the sounds of the city as the waves of the Mediterranean crash onshore.  And it is the only place to sit and watch the sunset over this amazing city.  It is also home to the city’s top hotels, the Opera House and the Old City.    Tel Aviv, Israel | Inspirato Luxury Vacations

I made my way to Old City (4000 year old city in the middle of a metropolis) it is the southern and oldest part of Tel Aviv sitting on the harbor.  It is a maze of walkways, shops, the Clock Tower and St. Peter’s Church and the Old Jaffa Port, also known as Namal Yafo Port, it is one of the oldest in the world.  It is where Jonah set off in the Biblical story, Jonah and the Whale.  Today the port is used largely by local fishermen who continue the centuries old tradition of the area.

Jaffa is famous for its association with the biblical stories of Jonah, Solomon, and Saint Peter as well as the mythological story of Andromeda and Perseus.  It is an ancient port city that is famous for its Clock Tower. Jaffa rises 130 feet above the coastline so it had a strong importance militarily.  It has a population of Jews, Christians and Muslims. And after a walk around it I returned to boardwalk and watched the sun set.
