Free in Boston – when it comes to travel the one word we all love is ‘FREE’ whether it be a museum or a tour – free is free. And Boston is no way an inexpensive city to visit, in fact it’s among the top 10 in the US. Well for those of that make your way to Boston some sweet day here are some of the places where free is actually in their vocabulary. These are places you and your wallet will be happy you came.
1. Museum of Fine Arts – every Wednesday entrance to this amazing museum is free of charge. The MFA is the fourth largest art museums in the world with over 450,000 works of art
2. Institute of Contemporary Art – after Wednesday at the MFA cross the city to Boston’s seaport and from 5 – 9 pm on Thursday’s the ICA is free to enter.
3. The Boston Children’s Museum – now this is not free, but I did include it anyway, Fridays admission to the museum is $1 from 5 – 9 pm. and with that you can see three of Boston’s top museums for $1. Two museums for the adults to enjoy and for those that travel with children one for them.
4. The Boston Public Library – free 365 days a year. It is the very first library in the US with stunning murals and marble states, bates hall and the Norman B. Leventhal Map Room.
5. The Freedom Trail – I know that sounds odd but this trail will take to every single historical site in Boston for free just grab a map and go.

6. The Massachusetts State House – take a free tour of the building the men and women try to improve the lives of the residents of Massachusetts. Here everything from the architecture to its history with free tours daily from 10 am – 4 pm.

7. The Black Heritage Trail – as long as you’re on Beacon Hill you might as well walk the Black Heritage Trail which begins directly across from the State House. The trail takes you to fourteen sites throughout Beacon Hill before ending at the African-Meeting House.

8. The Old North Church – this is Boston’s ‘little Italy’, The North End. It was from the steeple of the church Robert Newman held up two lanterns as a signal from Paul Revere that the British were marching to Lexington and Concord by sea and not land.
9. The USS Constitution – the oldest ship in The American Fleet permanently docked in the Charlestown Navy Yard free tours every thirty minutes.

10. The Massachusetts Historical Society – collects, preserves and makes available to the public manuscripts and artifacts related to Massachusetts with a large collection of papers and letters from historical figures and politicians from Massachusetts.
