Ladies pray on the right side and men on the left. They write down their prayers and put them inside any crevice they can find in this ancient wall made of n hopes that Jesus will hear and answer them. Everyday people from every faith come here, to stand, to pray and believe that better is possible. It is a place of solace despite everything that surrounds you. It is The Western Wall.
It is a tribute to the resilience and strength to Jews around the world, it is a place that every one of us can be a part of. So many of us still hold on to the past and never rise up from it to live in the present and hope for better future. We realize that no single person, religion, creed, color or ethnicity is superior to another.
Each one of us want to believe there is better in this world. We all want to find that happiness and we stand side by side to try and understand each other, our own fears, hopes and dreams. A person’s country of origin does not matter because each person is in search of the same thing, a better day.
We want to find happiness and stand side by side to understand each other and find all we share starting with our beliefs. So often that one person you think you’ll have nothing in common with is that one person that could change your life and you theirs and you both find yourself saying ‘me too.’
When you stand in front of site that doesn’t discriminate, where it doesn’t matter you religion, ethnicity, color, creed, background. A place where perfection is not expected and mistakes are forgiven, a place where all religions for a moment can be one and stand together, when you are able to find that place, embrace, cherish it, worship it, The Western Wall is one such place.
