After an hour in Bogota’s famous Gold Museum we went to the neighborhood known as Macarena. This could be compared to SoHo in New York City, Palermo in Buenos Aires or Boston’s South End. The area is surrounded by “Torres del Parque”, SantaMaria Bullring, and Monserrate Mountain. It is an area surrounded by universities with streets lined with coffee shops, restaurants and bars. The exclusive area of Bogotá is surrounded of embassies, editorial headquarters, architect offices and art galleries. The narrow streets and more narrow sidewalks make this part of the city a place you must visit.
What truly sets Macarena apart from any other neighborhood in the city is the art work on any building, side park and street, no matter where looked it was a painting. Each one as fascinating as the next. An outdoor art gallery with each street you walk they surround you making you forget how narrow the streets are because the art that surrounds is so captivating. My words can’t describe seeing these images up close and personal with some telling you a story.
