As a seasoned traveler one thing I always enjoy is night out in the city I am in. I go out for a nice dinner; bar hop and meet the locals but always make sure I end the night on a dance floor. Michael and I were in on our last stop on the journey, Munich, Germany where we’d spend four nights.
I made the mistake of taking the train from Paris to Munich, eight hours falling in and out of sleep and once we reached Munich we checked into the Marriott. As exhausted as we were we knew if we took naps, we weren’t going anywhere. It was Saturday night in the city, and we needed a dance floor and after some research we found one, we inhaled a Domino’s pizza, and we were off. I didn’t know the name of this disco, but it was the perfect size you weren’t fighting people to get a drink, and you could walk without having to rub against someone’s body to move. Michael and I were drinking beer that was 15% tequila, so we were feeling good. We were talking with the locals it was one the best nights on the journey and a perfect way to start our final leg of the tour.
The music was perfect – no house, techno or reggae – just music in its original form with a mix or a beat added or an extended version. And the more we drank the more we danced and the DJ played a song I never thought I’d hear in any nightclub around the world, you could offer me $1,000 and I still wouldn’t believe you – but these are the moments that make travel so amazing, the unexpected. ‘Dare Me’ was blasting and in the blink of an eye the dance floor was packed and a moment like this might never happen again – Michael and I were across the world dancing with Germans who love the Pointer Sisters as much as we do – life is beautiful.
